In the PIL filed by toll analysts for blocking the toll on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, one of the petitioners has informed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to remove the name of the respondent from the list of respondents. Owing to which the Chief Minister can now be made a defendant in personal matters. On the other hand, technically, given the fact that a Chief Minister cannot be a defendant, the court rebuked the petitioners, after which petitioner removed the name of the chief minister from the list of the defendants.

Even after the recovery of the full amount of toll tax on Mumbai-Pune expressway in 2016, the contractors had started to charge and collect the toll from the vehicle drivers. As a result, the toll analysts have demanded to stop the toll from the state government, saying that the government has not been paying any attention. The toll analysts have filed a public interest petition in the High Court, saying that it is illegal and therefore this practice should immediately be ceased.
