Fire flames doused off at South Mumbai's Avighna society; 1 dead

According to latest reports, in a massive fire that broke out in South Mumbai, it has come to light that a 30-year-old man identified as Arun Tiwari was brought dead at KEM Hospital. 

As seen a glimpse in the video, the man reportedly jumped from the 19th floor after the fire broke out in a residential building in Mumbai's Curry Road area.

Fortunately, majority of the residents managed to evacuate themselves, including several senior citizens and children.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Iqbal Singh Chahal also reached the spot and ordered a probe into the incident. He said the fire has been doused and the cooling operations are underway.

Meanwhile, the traffic on Curry Road Bridge has been stopped due to the fire. The police have barricaded the area.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade have declared this as the Level 4 fire, which broke out around 12 in the noon today, October 22. 

The incident took place on the 19th floor of the 60-storey South Mumbai’s luxury building, Avighna Park society.

As soon as the incident was reported, fifteen fire engines reached the spot and efforts are underway to control the fire. Also, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar and officials of the fire and rescue department reached the spot.

Moreover, in the visuals, the building’s 19th floor can be seen engulfed in flames and black smoke. 

However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertain. Reports stated that it is due to a short-circuit and a probed is being conducted. Moreover, the residents have claimed that the building reportedly has all fire-safety measures in place.
