On Monday afternoon, around 12:00 pm, a fire broke out in a building at Perry Road’s New Kanta Wadi. The fire caused by a short circuit claimed the life of a one and half-year-old Didi Thanu while her older sister Uma Thanu, who is two and a half years old, is injured who has been admitted to Holy Family Hospital. 

The fire broke out in a two-storey building’s pump room around 12:11 pm. By 12:30 pm, the firefighters were successful in dousing the fire. Meanwhile, one and a half-year-old Didi Thanu who resided above the pump room died of suffocation while her two and a half-year-old sister got injured.
