A level-II fire broke out at Mumbai's popular bookstore, Kitab Khana, in the evening on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. As per reports, the incident was reported at 5:00 pm and eight fire engines have reached the spot to douse the fire.

A total of 30 people have been evacuated from the building located on MG Road near Bombay House. The building is a G+4 structure and the stop is located in between two floors. No injuries or casualties have been reported so far.
Kitab Khana took to Twitter to share the update regarding the same and mentioned, "There was only one blaze which broke out. The situation is under control. We will issue an official update later tonight." Responding to one of the queries, an official said, "The building has not caught fire. Everyone is safe. We will share an official update later tonight."

It is one of the popular bookstores in the city and is toured to be located in Somaiya Bhavan which is more than 150 years old.
