A fire breaks out in Zakaria Industrial Estate in Mumbai’s Byculla area on Thursday afternoon, March 3.
Soon after the incident was reported, eight fire tenders reached the spot and operations to douse the flames are underway. Fortunately, no causalities or injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. And more details are awaited.
Meanwhile, in January, several fire break outs were reported in Byculla. A level-2 fire incident took place near Mustafa Bazar in a wood godown in Byculla around 5.30 am on January 10.
Besides, two days later, another massive fire broke out at a godown in Mumbai’s Byculla area on January 12. As per accounts, it was a Level 2 fire that took place at 7:44 pm at Clay Road, Madanpura area in Byculla.
Moreover, a few days ago, on February 28, a level-2 fire incident was reported on the 10th floor of N G Royal Park building in Kanjurmarg East.
However, looking at the rise in the number of fire accidents across the city, the Mumbai Fire Brigade on Wednesday, March 2, tabled a proposal for the procurement of six new water tower vehicles to combat fire in congested and/or densely populated localities and old chawls.
At present, the fire brigade department has over 270 vehicles of which 11 fire engines will be phased out.
