A fire broke out at a residential building in Bhendi Bazaar at 10:30 pm on Thursday, May 23. The fire started on the third floor of Punjab Mahal that is located in Bohri Mohalla.

The Fire Brigade rushed to the spot as soon as the fire was reported, however, two men, Taheer Nalwala (72) and Mustafa Soni (42) died in the fire. Due to suffocation, three firemen were rushed to JJ Hospital where they are now stable. 

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Praveen Pardeshi said that an audit will be conducted to ascertain the reason behind the fire.
