After an inspection of all malls across the city, the Mumbai Fire Brigade has issued notices under Form J (for deficiencies found in regards to fire safety measures) to 29 malls.
Earlier, after the fire broke out in the city centre mall at Nagpada, 75 malls in Mumbai were inspected and fire prevention measures were taken. Moreover, the Mumbai Fire Brigade has warned that legal action will be taken against the owners of the goods if the errors are not rectified. In addition, in case of unauthorized construction in the mall, action will be taken by the Assistant Commissioner with the concerned departmental offices.
This includes three malls in the city, four in the eastern suburbs and 22 in the western suburbs. It includes five malls in Kandivali, four in Borivali, three each in Malad and Santacruz, and two in Dahisar. Meanwhile, some malls have been found to have unauthorized construction, as well as violations of regulations.
The malls that have received the notice:
