A fire broke out late on Sunday night in a room on the second floor of a six-storey building in the Balkum area here. On getting information about the incident, the Disaster Management Department rushed to the spot and evacuated 35-40 residents of the building safely. Due to this loss of life was avoided. However, the exact cause of the fire is not yet clear.
There is a six storey building in Balkum area on Thane-Bhiwandi road. A sudden fire broke out in a room on the second floor of this building late on Sunday night. The fire was massive and smoke plumes spread all over the area. As soon as the Thane Municipal Disaster Management Department got the information about this incident, they rushed to the spot along with the fire brigade personnel. Officials and staff of Kapurbawadi police station also reached the spot immediately.

After the fire, around 35 to 40 residents were safely evacuated by the fire brigade and disaster management team due to the spread of smoke in the building. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by late night. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this incident, it was informed by the Disaster Management Department.
