Firefighters successful in dousing the fire at Aarey colony in Goregaon

A massive fire broke out at Aarey colony in Goregaon around 6:30 pm on Monday, which later escalated to level-3 around 8:05 pm


On Monday evening, around 6:30 pm, a massive fire broke out at Aarey colony in Goregaon. The fire reached level-3 around 8:05 pm. However, by midnight, the firefighters were able to douse the fire and no casualty was reported. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

The firefighters took 4-5 hours to douse the fire and 10 fire engines were present on the spot. Along with fire brigade officials, volunteers too, helped in dousing the fire.

Prabhat Rahangdale, Chief Fire Officer said that as there was no approach for fire appliances, the flames were brought under control using fire beaters (branches of trees to create a fire break) by firemen. He added that many big fire pockets at a distance were brought under control by creating teams of firefighters with fire beaters to create the fire break.
