A massive fire broke out at F.E. Dinshaw trust property at Malad East. The trust property lies betwee Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) and Aarey colony. According to SGNP director Anwar Ahmed, the fire started around 6:30 pm in a private property on the outside of SGNP area, Malad (E).

Anwar said the private property is locally referred to as Raheja property. He further added that they have sent our forest guards and other officials to the area where the fire started in the dry grass so that it does spread into the forest area.

Animal activist and wildlife warden Sunish Subramanian said that his volunteers have also sent photographs of the blaze. He said this normally occurs during the winters when dry grass becomes tall and there are some mischievous human elements who set the fire.

The cause of the fire is not known yet. The firefighting department declared level-2 fire around 7:16 pm and level-3 fire around 8:05 pm. 10 fire brigade vehicles have rushed the spot and are trying their best to douse the fire. According to the reports, the fire has spread over 4 kms in Aarey colony.

Meanwhile, animal activists believe that some miscreants initiated the fire.
