On Monday, May 9, evening, a fire broke out on the 14th floor of a luxury tower in Bandra's Bandstand, reports cited. Based on accounts, while no civilian was injured, a fireman suffered minor injuries owing to suffocation during the firefighting operations.

The fireman, Kaushal Rajput (31) who was injured was taken to Bhabha Hospital. 

It has been reported that the fire was brought under control at nearly 9.30 pm, officials have been quoted in narratives claiming that the fire fighting system in the tower was defunct. 

According to reports, a senior fire official alleged that the repair work was being undertaken between the 13th and 14th floors, of the ground plus 21-storey, Jivesh Terrace. The said building is situated near Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan's residence, Mannat.

A fire brigade official was quoted in accounts elaborating on how the fire-fighting system was not working, but all residents were evacuated. 

Now, a detailed investigation is awaited following which a notice will be issued to the building. The official added that the exact cause of the fire is not known yet, but the electricity supply has been cut off as a precautionary measure. 

Similarly, Chief Fire Officer, Hemant Parab, remarked that all from the higher floors were evacuated as well as firefighters entered the flat where the blaze erupted.
