The BMC has proposed for the first of its kind eco-friendly fire station at Priyadarshani park which will be built by bamboos and leaves. This station will be called as first green fire station which will be surrounded by trees and creepers.
Since many years, there was a demand for a fire station in Nepean Sea Road as many as 495 fire incidents were reported in last five years. The major fire incident which took place was at 'Mount Black' building where five men and two women lost their lives and 30 people got injured. Another major fire incident was reported at Bhulabhai Desai road’s ‘Tirupati apartment’ where firefighters were able to save 10 men and 16 women.
