The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) organised the annual flamingo festival on Saturday near Sewri Jetty. Over 20,000 flamingos flock as the key attraction. 

The event was funded by Mangrove and Marine Biodiversity Conservation Foundation and supported by the Mumbai Port Trust. Free bus services were arranged for visitors from Sewri railway station from 11.30 am – 5.30 am. 

This year the flamingo festival hosted renowned author Deepak Dalal’s latest book ‘Flamingo in my garden’. Different educational activities were also conducted which include ‘Span Your Wings’, ‘Flamingo Quiz’, ‘Beaks and their types’, face painting and other activities.

Present at the festival were Dr Deepak Apte, BNHS Director, Mumbai Port Trust Officers and visitors in huge attendance.
