Mumbai is one of the worst impacted city in India from the Covid-19. BMC has been fine-tuning its strategy to curb the spread of the virus. Various Wards in BMC are also coming out with their own set of regulations that will help in avoiding crowding.

One such initiative has been taken by the BMC's H-West Ward. As per the new orders that are passed, parts of Bandra, Khar and, Santacruz, fruit and vegetable markets will stay open only till 12pm daily.

Mumbai Live spoke to Vinayak Vispute, Assistant Commissioner, H (West), regarding this order. He said that, "It is only fruit and vegetable market that will be allowed to open from morning till 12pm. Other essential shops like medical and milk shop will open as per standard time.

Till Tuesday, there are 548 cases in the H west ward.

It is being said that this move has been will help contain the spread of the virus as markets are said to be a probable source to get the infection. However, the residents in the area are not very happy with this move and feel that the limited timing of the market will actually lead to overcrowding as more people will head to buy vegetables and fruits during the stipulated window.
