According to BCAS chief Zulfikar Hasan, full body scanners will be gradually introduced at airports and the process is expected to start at major airports within a year. Hasan also emphasised that there will be no privacy concerns as these have already been resolved globally. If passengers with health issues are unable to use such scanners, he said other solutions would be available.

According to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the installation of full body scanners at airports should be completed by the end of the year. At a conference in the country's capital, Hasan said that although the BCAS had set a deadline, there were problems with the procurement cycle as airport operators around the world bought the equipment from the same two or three manufacturers.

Initially the full body scanners will be installed at busy airports like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi.
