Ganesh Chaturthi will come to an end on Thursday, September 12 for the mandals who had welcomed Ganpati Bappa for 10 days at the pandals and accordingly, will conduct the immersion of the idols (Visarjan).
The Visarjan is conducted by the devotees with pomp since it is led by a procession consisting of thousands of Ganpati devotees.
However, keeping the citizens' safety in mind, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked the Ganpati mandals to comply with certain regulations during the Visarjan procession. The civic body has appealed to the mandals to ensure utmost caution while passing on old and dilapidated bridges.
BMC has advised the Ganpati mandals to avoid or take precaution while passing on an old railway bridge to ensure that the celebrations do not end up tragedy. The measures suggested by the civic body includes not dancing to music while passing on these bridges, taking care that the bridge does not have to bear more than 16 tonne of weight.
