Every year, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated across India to mark the arrival of Lord Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati/Gauri.

On the other hand, earlier on September 9, the Mumbai Police announced imposing Section 144 of the CrPc in the city during Ganesh Chaturthi from September 10 to 19. This decision has been taken in view of the COVID-19 situation in Mumbai. The order is issued from Mumbai Commissioner's office and will be applicable under the jurisdiction area Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

There should be no procession for the arrival of Ganesha idols. Also, more than five persons can't gather at a place, the Mumbai Commissioner's office stated in its order.
