According to the latest reports, Mumbai Police’s women personnel will attain eight-hour shifts starting Tuesday, March 8 which coincides with International Women’s Day. The said order was reportedly issued by Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey.

Based on accounts, the directive’s aim is to assist the women personnel in having a healthy work-home balance. Officials were quoted in narratives elaborating on how the directive issued on Monday, March 7 will stay in force in the metropolis until further orders.

It has also been reported that Pandey who was earlier the acting director-general of police of Maharashtra had begun the eight-hour duty schedule in January 2022.

An official elucidated on how in accordance with CP’s order, women personnel have two options. One includes them having to work in three shifts which are from 8 am to 3 pm, 3 pm to 10 pm and 10 pm to 8 am. On the other hand, the second option is that of 7 am to 3 pm, 3 pm to 11 pm and 11 pm to 7 am, stated accounts. 

The Mumbai Police has been celebrating Women’s Week as a part of which they conducted a seminar for school girls on staying Cyber Safe in this world driven by technology.

The seminar included information on how to report and helpline numbers in case of such events.
