Govt-appointed committee for Shirdi Sansthan can take charge on Oct 19, says Bombay HC

In September, the HC had asked the new committee to refrain from taking new policy decisions, and the interim order will continue for another two weeks. They can take charge on October 19.

On Monday, October 4, the bench of Bombay High Court (HC) directed that the new managing committee of Shri Sai Baba Sansthan in Shirdi can officially take charge on Tuesday, October 19.

The new managing committee is appointed by the Maharashtra government. On September 21, the Bombay HC had asked the new committee to refrain from taking new policy decisions, making appointments, or inducting new members in the committee. The interim order will continue for another two weeks. The bench was hearing civil applications in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by  Uttamrao Shelke. He had stated that committee members should be under the radar for illegalities in their selection and nominations.

The court has asked the principal district judge (PDJ) of Ahmednagar, who is the chairman of the ad hoc committee, to conduct a meeting of ad hoc panel along with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shirdi Sansthan Trust. The court has asked the PDJ to make sure there is a smooth opening of the temple today, October 7. The state government had announced to reopen all the religious places from Thursday, Oct 7.

The Aurangabad bench of Bombay HC observed that the new committee would take its charge from Oct 19 and have disposed of all the other civil applications stating that it can be taken up by the new committee post-October 19.
