Mumbai has witnessed a remarkable response from job seekers as 18 lakh candidates applied for 18,331 posts of police constables, driver police constables, and personnel for the State Reserve Police Force. This massive recruitment drive is one of the biggest in the country's history and is being carried out across all districts.

The post of a policeman is highly sought after, providing prestige in society. A retired cop mentioned that the job of a police constable is respected in the community and provides a stable career for those who want to serve their country. This sentiment is echoed in the response to the recruitment drive, with a high number of applicants applying for the limited number of posts.
The police department in Mumbai has begun the hiring process for 8,070 constable and police driver positions. 73 transgender people have applied for the positions as a result of the Bombay High Court's directive to the police department to include provisions for the third gender category. Sixty-eight of the 73 submitted applications—68 are for police constable and five are for driver police constable.
The recruitment process comprises a 1600m run, shot put, pull-ups, and long jump. After successfully passing the physical test, candidates have to take a written exam and a medical test. As part of the first phase, the recruitment for police drivers has started in Naigaon and Marol police ground.
