IMD issues yellow alert for Mumbai

Mumbai and its suburbs have been receiving heavy rain since the night of July 22. In the wake of heavy rains, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for some districts of the state. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Raigad, Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar districts.

The Andheri subway has been closed for traffic due to waterlogging due to overnight rains in Mumbai. More rain is expected in the state next week.

IMD has predicted heavy rains in Konkan, Goa, Ghats of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada till July 28. Due to this, the administration has warned the citizens to be alert. Meanwhile, Mumbai Traffic Police informed that Andheri subway is closed.

There is 1 to 1.5 feet of water in the subway. Due to this, traffic has been diverted via Gokhale Bridge and Thackeray Bridge. There is no immediate report of any major impact on air traffic.

Due to rain, trains on Central Railway and Harbour Line are running late. However, trains on Western Railway are running on time. In Mumbai, Byculla, Lalbagh, CSMT and Churchgate areas received heavy rain.

Heavy rain is expected in Ghatkopar and surrounding areas till 10 am. IMD has issued a 'Yellow' warning on July 23 as heavy rain is likely to occur again in Mumbai.
