As Mumbaikars woke up on Tuesday after Ganpati 2019 celebrations began a day before, they were welcomed by heavy rains.  Mumbai and the surrounding areas had been receiving light showers since the night of September 2 but gradually the force increased and the citizens had to face hassle while commuting to work.

Due to the downpour, people from Hindmata and Dadar had to face waterlogging. The heavy rains adversely affected the daily routine of the citizens as the train services were disrupted.

The rainfall return has been initiated by low pressure winds rising near Bay of Bengal. Accordingly, as per the forecast, Mumbai along with parts of Western Maharashtra will be receiving heavy rains in the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, owing to persistent rains, the Andheri subway was shut down completely. The subway had been filled with around 2-3 feet of water. On the other hand, railway tracks were left waterlogged and the local train service was adversely affected during peak hours.

The rains also played spoilsport for Ganpati devotees celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi as they faced heavy rains on the day of commencement of the 11-day festival.
