August 29, 2017, is remembered by everyone in the city.
Due to the massive rains in Mumbai, the city observed a complete breakdown of the public transport and along with it, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar’s car – Mahindra XUV 500 – was also damaged.
Surprisingly, the damaged car was returned to him, but on July 6, 2018 - almost a year after the incident by the company’s authorised service centre with a bill of ₹3,71,902.
It is said that during the rains last year, Mayor Vishwanath was on road inspecting the areas in Mumbai when his car’s motor was damaged due to the water logging. However, there are several speculations being generated and questions being asked over this issue.
One might wonder that this Mahindra’s XUV model costs around ₹12 lakh to ₹13 lakh and with 10 months duration of its repair, how its servicing can have almost four lakhs as the bill? And if you're questioning the same, then it is valid! Further, some also wonder that despite having an option to choose BMC'sown garage to fix its vehicle, Why didn't the Mayor send the car to the company’s service centre?
Answers to the same are awaited!
