Mumbai Receives Over 100mm Rainfall in 24 hours; Likely to pick up over weekend

After a week of subdued rainfall, Mumbai witnessed heavy rains on Friday morning, July 14. However, it had led to waterlogging and slowing down of vehicular causing traffic jams during peak hours. Though local trains services remain unaffected, claimed officials; on the contrary, commuters complained of delayed trains by 10 minutes.

It is pertinent to note that the intensity of rainfall was more in the city as compared to suburbs.

Owing to this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall on Friday, July 14, and it is expected to pick up on the weekend.

As per the weather department, in the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today, July 14, Mumbai received 53.54mm, eastern suburbs recorded 25.06mm and western suburbs got 26.23mm rainfall.

Meanwhile, the average rainfall in the city between July 12, 2023 from 8 am to July 13, 8 am was recorded at Mumbai - 4.19 mm, Eastern Suburbs - 9.16 mm, Western Suburbs - 6.06 mm.

For the last five days, Mumbai has only recorded 27 mm of rains as the city saw light showers.

Moreover, in its latest weather bulletin, IMD has predicted light to moderate widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during next five days.
