After apex court's final verdict on the closure of liquor vends within 500 metres on national and state highways. This came as bad news for several pubs, bars and lounges that line the Eastern Express highway and the Western Express highway. Bars and pubs in the city have welcomed the decision of apex court. Post demonetisation bars and pubs saw a tremendous decrease in their business.
A bar owner, Raju Anna told Mumbai Live,"the bar inside the city will gain the maximum profitability owing to the decision." The footfall is increasing post-verdict. They have to set up sofas outside to accommodate the customers walking inside.
Customers are not happy with the verdict as the bars on Dahisar and Mira Road highway were much cheaper than bars in the city. The risk factor has increased as there will be police vans on vigilance.
