IIT-Bombay with the help of its 300 volunteers have managed to clear garbage along the Powai lake. According to estimates, they have managed to clear about 1.5 tonnes of garbage on a 1.5km stretch along the Powai lake on Sunday.

This was the second edition of clean-up and awareness campaign initiated by IIT-Bombay. The first drive was organised in June 2019. The current drive was a collaborative effort by Abhyuday, which is IIT-Bombay's social body and BMC. Post this cleanup drive, BMC officials spoke about their plans to separate solid waste going into the lake.

Apart from the cleanliness drive, IIT Bombay has been news for the cattle nuisance it is being tried to tackle. In an effort to curb cattle nuisance in the campus, it is being proposed to use GPS tracker on the cattle. This proposal has been submitted by the committee that was set up to address this issue.

With the help of this GPS tracker, the security people will be able to keep a tab on the cattle and prevent them from entering hostels, administrative offices and not to forget classrooms!
