Earlier this week, Informa Markets organised its second Walkathon in India titled - Walk the World 2020 at Marine Drive. Each year, Walk the World encourages colleagues from every Informa office around the globe to participate in the walkathon and raise funds for a charity.

India, with its burgeoning youth population, has enough reason for improving the skills of young people especially women. This year ‘Walk the World’ (WTW) India raised funds for Community Outreach Programme (CORP). The NGO works towards providing a platform for the holistic development of women and children. It believes that economic independence is the key to raising the social status of women. Through WTW, the Mumbai chapter of Informa Markets in India has pledged a fund of ₹27,00,000 to CORP. These funds will help women from Mumbai slums to receive vocational training.

Speaking on the occasion, Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, Informa Markets said “The walkathon is an important initiative to raise awareness, camaraderie and fitness. Through the ‘Women Empowerment Vocational Training’ programme, Informa Markets in India is extremely proud to pledge a fund that will help over 2,000 women from Mumbai slums receive vocational training and start working for a fair salary in an atmosphere of safety. This will undoubtedly amplify their self-esteem and well-being and make a difference in their standards of living."

Director of CORP Nirmal Chandappa said, “We are immensely grateful to Informa Markets in India for their valuable support to CORP enabling us to impart training and transform the lives of thousands of disadvantaged women to become self-dependent and lead a dignified life. We believe that all contributions can make ripples of positive change that can help in making our world a better place for us and for our future generation.”
