INR 60 lakh cash was found in a parcel on Duronto Express which arrived at CSTM railway station on Tuesday, April 16. After finding this amount, the information about this has been given to the income tax department. Sources said that the amount was found during inspection at platform number 17 of CSMT station.
At this time, the Railway Security Force conducted an inspection of the railway. During the inspection, a suspicious parcel was found on the platform. Railway security personnel informed the railway police. Accordingly, the railway police reached the spot. When they checked, there were clothes inside. It was also observed that there was cash inside the clothes. Sources said that cash worth INR 60 lakh was found in these clothes, most of which were currency notes of INR 500.
A person's name and address is recorded on this parcel. According to the rules, if the amount is more than 10 lakh rupees, it is mandatory to give the information about it to the income tax department. Therefore, the Income Tax Department has been informed about this and the amount has been handed over to the officials of the Income Tax Department. Sources said that more investigation will be done in this matter.
Due to Lok Sabha elections, strict security has been kept everywhere and orders have been given to check suspicious items. Earlier, during the investigation in the wake of the Lok Sabha elections, the local police found cash worth INR 72 lakh in Ghatkopar. It turned out that IT belonged to a builder. The Income Tax Department is investigating further in this regard.
