Mumbai: 30-year-old man arrested for murdering girlfriend over petty dispute

Man murdered his girlfriend who had come to celebrate birthday. Murder took place in Kandivali over a petty reason, as per police. Samatanagar police have arrested the accused in this case. Both of them are natives of Nepal.


The slain girl’s name was Hemkumari Motiram Bhat alias Shanu and the accused boyfriend has been identified as Dambar Bahadur Khadke Vishwakarma (30). Shanu was a native of Nepal and used to work as a domestic worker in the Ashok Nagar area of Kandivali. There Dambar Bahadur was working as a security guard. He is also a native of Nepal.

Few months ago, they met on social media where the acquaintance turned into friendship and then into love. Both of them were in a relationship for the past six months. Shanu's birthday was on 14th April. She wanted to celebrate her birthday with Dambar Bahadur. So on Saturday, April 13 evening, she came to stay at his house. His mother was at home with him at this time. Both of them celebrated the birthday and drank alcohol at night. Meanwhile, there was a bitter quarrel between them over a trivial reason. Enraged, Dambar Bahadur hit Shanu hard against the wall and she collapsed on the spot.


The unconscious Shanu was immediately admitted by the police to the nearest government hospital. However, she was declared dead. She died on the spot due to severe head injuries. Her body was later sent for post-mortem.

Samtanagar police has registered a case of murder and started searching for Dambar Bahadur who was at large. During the search operation, the police located and arrested Dambar Bahadur within a few hours.
