On Monday, May 16, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray while speaking at the book launch event of "Iqbal Singh Chahal-Covid Warrior" reportedly stated that copies of the book should be sent to certain people. According to accounts, the book speaks about the work done by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) during the coronavirus pandemic.

Based on narratives, the launch of Minhaz Merchant’s book happened at Sahyadri guest house wherein Thackeray made comments against the BJP. He was quoted in reports elaborating on how history will note what transpired during the pandemic. However, he believes that the book should be sent to some people. He added that last year, near this time, people could hear only ambulance sirens, but now loudspeakers can be heard.

It has been reported that Thackeray elucidated how the book depicts the success story of the city dealing with the pandemic. Through the book, he hopes the story reaches the world. The Shiv Sena leader lauded the work done by the BMC officials and noted that India's first field hospital was built in Mumbai in 15 days when COVID-19 hit.

Thackeray then uttered that the pandemic was a testing time since no one in the world had experience coupled with the absence of a cure. The only option left was coronavirus management. He voiced that in March 2020, COVID centres were commenced and India's first jumbo coronavirus hospital was built at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in a mere 15 days. With its permanent sewage line, he says it cannot be called a temporary structure.

Further speaking on COVID-19 management, the Maharashtra Chief Minister mentioned the task force which entailed doctors. Their guidance, he said, assisted in treatment protocol, managing migrant labourers and dealing with the shortage of oxygen supply.

Moreover, Mumbai suburban guardian minister, Aaditya Thackeray on the occasion voiced that the BMC's work was recognized by the Prime Minister, international media and courts. The book he claims, documents the decisions and protocols adhered to while highlighting the city's spirit.

Junior Thackeray went back in time and remarked on how when the first case was reported, the CM ordered the civic body to augment the bed capacity. He mentioned that while the earlier process was blurred it was streamlined later. He assured that the government's success is not hiding the cases, but treating more people which was attained.
