On March 22, as many as 10 more people were tested positive for novel coronavirus in Maharashtra. As a result of this, in a just a day, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state touched 74.

As per the Maharashtra Health Department, six out of 10 new cases come from Mumbai while 4 people tested positive in Pune.

“The state recorded 10 new SARS-CoV2 (COVID-19) cases on Sunday morning taking the number of patients to 74. Out of these 10 cases tested positive, 6 are from Mumbai and 4 from Pune. Of these 10 cases, 5 have travel history and other came in contact with earlier positive cases. Details of the remaining 1 case are awaited,” the department said.

The Ministry of Health on Sunday (at 11.45 am) confirmed the total number of Coronavirus cases in India at 341 with 26 new cases from across the country reported so far. The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed seven lives in India whereas 23 have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

As the coronavirus pandemic is in its initial stage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to follow 'Janata Curfew' from 7 am to 9 pm on Sunday to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

That being said, as the number of COVID-19 cases increases in Maharashtra, the state government has decided that Mumbai local train - often referred to as the city's lifeline - will not function until March 31, 2020. No trains will run on Mumbai's central, western or harbour lines.
