Maharashtra industries minister Uday Samant announced that the state cabinet has approved and sanction projects worth INR 39,900 crore in the last meeting held on Wednesday, June 28.

A total of three cabinet meetings took place recently. It is important to have a cabinet sub-committee that meets and takes steps to attract more industries to the state, Samant explained.

He made these statements while speaking to media at the VVIP Circuit House in Pune on Thursday, June 29.

Samant also remarked that the state government will start six skill centres, which be located at Pune, Nashik, Amravati, Nagpur and Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) districts. Through this, students will be given industry-related education. Later, they will be given jobs in nearby industries too.

Samant also claimed that he always spoke about education and industry ministries to work together for skill development courses and setting up of such centres.

The minister said that a “leather cluster” is announced at Raigad district with ₹385 crore fund from the Centre. “The plan will attract around ₹7,000 crore investment and more than 15,000 jobs. The Bajaj Finance company will expand its office with ₹5,000 crore investment and start a new data centre at Mundhwa. We have given approval for two major projects — ‘marine park’ and ‘mango park’ — in Konkan region and tendering would start soon.”

Moreover, a jewellery industry will be set up at 21-acre in Navi Mumbai to accommodate at least 2,000 businessmen from the diamond and related industries. The project will come up at an investment of around ₹20,000 crore and will provide 1 lakh job opportunities.
