Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Friday, April 2, 2021, addressed the state and warned the citizens of a complete lockdown, however, he stated that the same is not being implemented yet. Adding more, he said that if in the next two days, he does not see any difference in condition, the state might have to consider several stages of the lockdown as announced in other parts of the world. Mentioning the same, he has given an ultimatum to the people of Maharashtra.

Sharing more information about the increasing coronavirus spread, he commented that the discussions have started about the lockdown and strict restrictions.

Despite the growing concerns, people are still conducting parties, gatherings and ceremonies due to which the infection is on the rise once again. Earlier, a few months back, as the situation was brought under control, the citizens organised weddings, political rallies, etc., eventually resulting in the scenario today. Unfortunately, the fears expressed by all the experts back then, have now came true.

It is being said that the infection which has spread this March is severe then the last time, and the government is in a situation to take a tough decision. Many experts are currently advising on strict restrictions, and the statements are being sent regarding the same.

Adding more, the CM confirmed that the team is expanding healthcare facilities. The availability of beds, medicines, ventilators can be increased, but the government is worried about increasing the number of doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals.

Coronavirus cases are on a rise despite 3 lakh citizens being vaccinated in Maharashtra in a single day, but if the patient is infected even after vaccination, how does one break this chain? Discussions are being held to find solutions to such issues, said Uddhav Thackeray.

People have not stopped crowing public places or conducting events and ceremonies. Observing this, he warned that if the situation continues, our healthcare facilities will become inadequate. In that case, if one will have no other option but the lockdown, hoping to break the chain of infection.

The ministry is talking to experts from every field in the next couple of days hoping to find a different solution. However, if the citizens' response and behavior does not change over the next two days, then a few strict restrictions will have to be imposed to control the crisis. Announcement will be made regarding the same on Saturday, April 3, 2021 or Sunday, April 4, 2021.
