On Tuesday, April 19, Sanjay Shintre, SP, Maharashtra Cyber, was quoted in a report by the news agency ANI stating that Maharashtra Cyber has sent a proposal to block 22 accounts. Considering the present scenario, the authorities are seeking accounts that are propagating content of communal disharmony.
Shintre added that accounts have been blocked as well. He went on to remark that first, the Cyber Cell sends notices to the intermediaries that include the likes of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter amongst others. They are sent notices about the possibility of communal disharmony through these accounts.

The SP, Maharashtra Cyber said that these intermediaries immediately act on the notice by taking down such content and then go on to delete it.
He added that while the Maharashtra Cyber is active every day nearly 12,000 objectional posts defaming dignitaries were identified nearly two years ago. Of these 6,000 were deleted by the intermediaries.
These developments come in the midst of the row overuse of loudspeakers in mosques as well as reports of communal clashes.
In addition to this, the Maharashtra Police has reportedly also announced steps they will take to maintain peace and communal harmony. A police statement shared by ANI read that those found giving provocative speeches will be arrested and guidelines on the media's reportage of such issues could also come.
This controversy over the loudspeakers started when MNS Chief Raj Thackeray warned that if action is not taken by the state government, his party would play Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers.
