The row of loudspeakers in public places has grabbed the attention of the state over the past few weeks. In light of this, on Tuesday, April 19, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, while interacting with media persons said that there is no need to go to the Cabinet about guidelines on the use of loudspeakers in public places.

According to Patil, field-level input will be taken and the government will take action. He added that there is no time limit for the issuance of guidelines since talk with all stakeholders has to be undertaken.

On being asked about his meeting with state chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, Patil answered that conversations about law and order in Maharashtra transpired.

Similarly, Shiv Sena leader, Sanjay Raut also shared his two cents about the loudspeaker controversy. He alleged that the heated atmosphere is being created in lieu of the upcoming elections in two major cities of India, namely Mumbai and Delhi.

Raut was quoted in reports saying, "The way an atmosphere of riots is being created in two major cities by the ruling party is unfortunate. In Delhi, this is being done as municipal elections are coming up; BMC polls also coming up in Mumbai".

The loudspeaker spar erupted after MNS Chief Raj Thackeray declared that he will organize the recital of Hanuman Chalisa outside mosques if loudspeakers were not removed from it by May 3.

Now narratives have been doing the rounds that the MNS Chief will be conducting a meeting with the party's top leaders at his residence on Tuesday. Herein, a strategy is anticipated to be prepared on the ultimatum given to remove mosque loudspeakers.

Similarly, reports add that MNS workers will perform 'Maha aarti' using loudspeakers at their local temples across Maharashtra, on May 3 mentioned party leader Nitin Sardesai.

Amidst this occurrence, the Maharashtra Home Department issued an order for the utilization of loudspeakers at religious sites. The state has reportedly mentioned that prior permission is required for its use.

Talking about Mumbai, Patil was quoted saying that the state DGP along with the city police commissioner will formulate guidelines on the use of loudspeakers in public places.

Moreover, accounts mention that the Maharashtra DGP will be holding a meeting via video conference with all police commissioners, IGs and SPs on the issue use of loudspeakers.
