Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said that state DGP along with the city police commissioner will formulate guidelines on the use of loudspeakers in public places. These guidelines will be issued in the next 1-2 days.

Amid communal tensions inciting across Maharashtra, Social Media Lab have been activated to keep a vigil on such posts to avoid violence and maintain law and order.

However, the Mumbai Police has informed that till now, 3,000 such posts have been deleted already.

Moreover, couple of incidents of violence also took place over the last few days as different festivals were celebrated back-to-back in the last two weeks.

On April 10, Ram Navami was celebrated to mark the birthday of Lord Ram. On April 14, the 131st birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was celebrated in a big way. Mahavir Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the 24th and the last Jain Tirthankar Bhagwan Mahavir, was also celebrated on the same day. Good Friday and Hanuman Jayanti were celebrated on April 15 and 16 respectively, while Easter is being celebrated on Sunday.

According to the city police records, six cases were registered in different police stations on charges of inciting violence during Ram Navami celebrations. While 30 people were arrested in the incident of clash between members of two communities in Mankhurd. However, a total of 61 persons have been arrested so far in the different cases.

On the other hand, expressing his gratitude to Mumbaikars, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey on Sunday, April 17, took to Twitter and shared: "Thank you Mumbaikars. All festivities last week did pass off peacefully. A few incidents that happened we got timely public support."

Additionally, in the aftermath of MNS Chief, Raj Thackeray declaring that he will organise the recital of Hanuman Chalisa outside mosques if loudspeakers were not removed from it by May 3, it sparked a row between the MVA government and other political parties.

In accordance to that, the Maharashtra Home Department issued an order for the utilization of loudspeakers at religious sites, highlighted accounts. The state has reportedly mentioned that prior permission is required for its use.

Talking particularly about Mumbai, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said that state DGP along with the city police commissioner will formulate guidelines on the use of loudspeakers in public places. These guidelines will be issued in the next 1-2 days. “We have kept an eye on the law and order situation in the state. Strict action will be taken against those who attempt to disturb peace in the state,” he added.

Apart from this, reports have been doing the rounds that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Dilip Patil will be meeting today to discuss the issue of the use of loudspeakers in public places as well as the law and order situation in Maharashtra.
