A few days back, State Energy Minister, Dr Nitin Raut received complaints about the Tata Power Generation Center not supplying power to Mumbai during the islanding and keeping the same in mind, he along with a team of officials visited the Tata Thermal Power Station, located in Mumbai's Trombay area, on Monday, November 2. As per reports, he also reviewed the Tata Group's plans to increase power generation and strengthen the transmission system in the future

Mumbai's island system, which is part of the Tata Power Company, was expected to start operation on October 12, 2020, after the city experienced power outages for a few hours during the day. This disrupted several services including Mumbai local trains, essential services, businesses and affected the daily lives of the general public.

Taking a note of this, Dr Raut has started visiting the spot and reviewing the same. A few days back, he along with other officials visited the State Load Transmission Center and the Mahatrans Company at Kharghar to understand the reasons behind the power outage.

He also shared the information on Twitter and confirmed his visit to the power generating company of Tata Power, where he inspected the power plant in Mumbai and also reviewed the Tata Group's plans to increase power generation and strengthen the transmission system in the future

Besides this, he has also directed strict action against the culprits involved in the power outage and several reports have stated about the mistakes being covered up when it is Tata Power's responsibility to supply additional power to Mumbai. However, questions arise about the reason how the power supply to Mumbai was cut off? Criticising them, he said that if mistakes have been made, then the firm must admit the same sincerely.

Reports state that three out of the four 400kv lines supplying power to Mumbai had to be shut down due to load shedding and the fourth line had to be shut down due to extra load. SLDC plays an important role in load transmission. Considering the same, the minister sought additional information from Tata Power officials on the day's proceedings and also understood about SLDC's functioning.
