On Monday, April 18, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray asked officials to curate the development plan for the renovation of eight temples in a week, cited reports. Thackeray reviewed the multiple projects in the cultural affairs department. 

In addition to this, he asked officials to see to it that the architects appointed for the conversation as well as restoration of six forts in the state curate the plan in the arriving three months, mentioned accounts. 

Based on narratives, the Maharashtra government has been pushing for the restoration of temples, forts and fortress throughout the state to augment tourism. It has been reported that in the first phase, the government has decided to renovate eight temples in Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik, Beed, Gadchiroli and Amravati through the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

A statement has reportedly been issued by the CMO elaborating on how during the temple renovation, the development plans should ensure that its original form is intact. The statement added that while developing these areas, facilities for tourists that include parking, road access, toilets should be considered and the layout of the shops should be similar. 

Of the eight temples, five will require the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), and some others will need Forest Department clearance, reports stated. 

Moreover, the state government has also decided to preserve and conserve six forts that include Rajgad, Torna, Shivneri, Sudhagad, Vijaydurg and Sindhudurg. For this, the CM has asked that work be done post comprehending the fort's history as well as its geographical conditions.

Apart from this, Thackeray has asked for the methodology being used for the conservation and preservation activities. Furthermore, for the proposed ropeway project at the Ekvira temple, the safety aspect must be given importance, instructed the CM.
