In cities, the vehicle number plate includes the RTO passing number, a code consisting of the initial letters of a particular state and other details in the form of numbers. The vehicle number is most important in this. In rural areas, the same number plate comes out quite differently. In fact, some number plates are so decorated that anyone can guess the nature of the vehicle owner.
Sometimes vehicle owners write the words mother, grandfather, father, boss on their vehicle number plate and indicate the vehicle number. However, many times the number is not visible because of this reason. As attractive as these number plates may look, the law doesn't seem to be interested in the artistry. That is why the Maharashtra government has taken a step towards deciding to install number plates with high level security registration numbers on all vehicles in the state.
The Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Department invited proposals in April 2019 for the imposition of HSRP on vehicles registered in the state. It may be noted that the Center had made HSRP mandatory on vehicles registered in the country from April 1, 2019.
All vehicles in Maharashtra will have this advanced modified number plate in about 12 months after the contractor is appointed. If everything goes according to plan, this rule will come into effect from next year i.e. 2024. So if you are going to buy a vehicle in the near future, then definitely ask about the number plate on it.
