Maharashtra Government Revises COVID-19 Curbs, Beauty Salons, Gyms Can Operate At 50% Capacity

Beauty salons are permitted to operate with 50 per cent capacity. Moreover, gyms are also permitted to function with 50 per cent capacity. Only those individuals who are fully vaccinated are allowed to utilize these services.

On Sunday, January 9, the Maharashtra government revised its COVID-19 curbs. Now beauty salons have been grouped with hair cutting salons and are permitted to operate with 50 per cent capacity. Moreover, gyms are also permitted to function with 50 per cent capacity. Only those individuals who are fully vaccinated are allowed to utilize these services, stated reports.

The revised notification issued by the state government mentions that at beauty salons and hair cutting salons only those activities that do not require the removal of masks by anyone will be allowed. Apart from the fact that only those vaccinated can use these services, only those staff fully vaccinated can engage in operations. 

At gyms, on the other hand, individuals will have to use masks while undertaking any activity. Herein as well, the staff engaged in operations has to be fully vaccinated, the individuals using the services also have to be vaccinated. 

In accordance with the notification released on Saturday, January 8, there is a prohibition of movement in groups of five or more from 5 am to 11 pm which will be effective from January 10 midnight. Apart from this, movement isn't permitted in public from 11 pm to 5 am except for essential services. Schools and colleges will also be closed till February 15. 

Additionally, at government offices, visitors will not be permitted except with the written permission of the office heads. Attendance at marriages, social, religious, cultural or political gatherings has been capped at 50. Similarly, at funerals over 20 people cannot be present.

Shopping malls, market complexes can function at 50 per cent capacity, information about the current number of visitors should be displayed on the noticeboard. Only those fully vaccinated will be permitted to enter malls, shopping complexes. These have to be closed after 10 pm.

Restaurants and eateries will operate at 50 per cent capacity, with the current number of visitors being displayed on the notice board. These too can only remain open till 10 pm. Cinema theatres, drama halls will function at 50 per cent capacity.

Public transport can be used only by those fully vaccinated.
