On Saturday, May 28, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar cautioned citizens that if COVID-19 cases continue to surge, the government will have to ponder over reinforcing curbs. Pawar added that any alterations in guidelines or new restrictions will only be considered following adequate consultation with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the cabinet.

On the other hand, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope, in Jalna while interacting with media persons elucidated that in international cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, new curbs have been enforced. There, people, after a rise in cases, have been warned to stay at home, Tope said.

Tope elucidated that while the number of coronavirus cases has increased in Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Palghar, the situation is not very alarming, but at the same time, he asks that all remain alert. His word of advice touched upon how even if there aren't any guidelines, citizens must undertake self-precautionary schemes. Tope opined that wearing of mask and sanitisation should be done to avert an increase in cases.

Likewise, Mumbai guardian minister Aslam Shaikh hinted at restrictions again if daily COVID-19 positive cases exceed a thousand in Maharashtra. In addition, he warned of the lockdown if cases continued to rise.
