Maharashtra: Order On COVID-19 Relaxations Likely On Monday

According to the latest reports, the Maharashtra government is likely to issue an order for easing COVID-19 restrictions on Monday, February 28. A senior official from the state relief and rehabilitation department was quoted in accounts, elaborating on how the order could be issued by Monday evening after which it will be put before the Bombay High Court

Earlier, on February 22, the state government had apprised the Bombay HC that it is willing to withdraw the circulars and the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued on July 15, August 10 and 11, 2021. By means of this, only fully vaccinated people were allowed to travel in Mumbai local trains, as well as, visit malls and office places. 

The next hearing on the PILs is slated to be conducted on Monday. On the other hand, on Sunday, February 27, the state registered under 1,000 coronavirus cases. With 782 cases reported on Sunday, the total count now stands at 7,865,298. 

Moreover, Maharashtra reported no cases of the highly transmissible Omicron variant on Sunday. Presently, there are an aggregate of 4,629 Omicron cases, while 4,456 have been discharged, cited narratives, 

Similarly, on Sunday, Mumbai recorded 103 coronavirus positive patients, with which the active number of patients is at 838. Interestingly, no fatalities were reported owing to the virus on Sunday.
