Amid the falling coronavirus cases being reported in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to shut down COVID-19 jumbo centres at Dahisar, Goregaon's NESCO, Mulund and Kanjur Marg stated reports. This decision is being attributed to not just the fall in cases, but also the reduction in the intensity of patients needing hospitalizations that had curtailed claimed accounts.

The resolution was reportedly taken by Suresh Kakani, Additional Municipal Commissioner after undertaking a review on Thursday, February 24, stated an account by the Indian Express.

However, the jumbo centres at BKC, Worli's NSCI and Byculla's Richardson Cruddas and Seven Hills hospital in Marol will continue to remain in force. Additionally, Malvani's COVID-19 treatment facility which is only for pediatric patients has been kept on standby.

On the other hand, on Thursday, Mumbai reported under 200 COVID-19 cases and TPR also was below one per cent, highlighted data released by the BMC. While the city registered 119 fresh coronavirus infections, the overall tally stood at 10,55,161.

Additionally, the civic body has stopped conducting mass testing at railway stations, beaches amongst other public places. Another cause for the fall in testing is the central government advisory that recommended testing only in symptomatic patients.

Recently, Mumbai also achieved the feat of administering over 2 crore vaccines against COVID-19 which many claims is the reason behind the fall in cases being reported.
