On Friday, November 12, afternoon, a tempo contracted by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to examine air and sound pollution at the Metrorail construction sites in Thane district, caught fire in Thane, however, no casualties were logged in the mishap, highlighted accounts. 

Based on reports, officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) elaborated that the vehicle was registered to Skylabs Pvt Ltd which is a private laboratory liaisoning with the MPCB.

An account by the Hindustan Times quoted Balasaheb Patel, the DCP (Traffic), Thane City stating that the vehicle which is a temp donned with pollution measuring apparatus was travelling from Mira Road to Thane when the mishap transpired. Added that it was stationary at the Nagla Bunder signal when smoke began coming from it. Immediately then, the driver as well as the three passengers came out from the vehicle just when it was about to burst into flames.

Several motorists who were reported to have seen the occurrence promptly apprised the Thane Fire Brigade. Post which a fire tender, a rescue vehicle, as well as a Hydra vehicle, reached the location. Whilst the fire was out in an hour, the vehicle suffered substantial damage. Officials remarked that no injuries were reported.
