Maharashtra Records 8% Rise In Serious Injuries From 36,450 Road Accidents in 2025

While Maharashtra has recorded a rise in the number of road accidents and serious injuries in them for the sixth consecutive year, the fatalities have registered a marginal decline.

According to a data released by the transport department’s provisional accident data of 2025, the state recorded 36,450 road accidents in 2025, sustaining the upward trend despite intensified enforcement.

Maharashtra has failed to bring down the number of serious injuries in road accidents in 2025. 

The number of seriously injured persons rose by 8 per cent during the year, marking the sixth consecutive annual increase, as per the report.

The state recorded 23,756 serious injuries in 2025, up from 22,051 in 2024.

In 2025, Maharashtra recorded 15,549 deaths in 14,440 fatal accidents, compared to 15,715 deaths in 14,565 fatal crashes in 2024.

However, road fatalities have shown an overall rising trend since 2020, when 11,569 people lost their lives in accidents, the report stated.
