The Maharashtra Societies' Welfare Association has sought BMC commissioner's intervention in making sure that the BMC is the new agency which fixes the capital value while calculating property tax.
Until now, the capital value of properties was fixed by the state tax department, due to which society and house owners were reportedly suffering losses. Regarding this, complaints have been filed in the court too. The Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association wants to build a transparent framework as far as property tax and capital value is considered.
