The delegation of All India Khilafat Committee had met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and made a request in this regard. They requested a holiday on September 29, so that a peaceful atmosphere can be maintained in the state and the police can plan the crowd and procession. This delegation included MP Rahul Shewale, MLA Abu Azmi, MLA Raees Khan, Naseem Khan etc.

On the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, Ganesh immersion processions and Eid-e-Milad processions are organised in different parts of the state. Keeping in mind the possibility of tension on the police system due to processions being taken out on the same day due to both the festivals, it has been decided to declare September 29 as a holiday.
