Navi Mumbai has become the third cleanest city. Therefore, the city has retained the 'Seven Star' status it achieved last year. Only three cities in the country have got seven star status. This year, two cities named Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have got five star status. Whereas 28 cities have got three star status and in this group Maharashtra ranks first at the national level.


Apart from this, 81 cities have got one star status. Among cities with population less than one lakh, Saswad ranks first in the country and Lonavala ranks third in the country. Three cities of Western Maharashtra - Gadhinglaj (cities with population of 25 to 50 thousand), Karad (cities with population of 50 thousand to one lakh) and Pachgani (cities with population less than 15 thousand) have won the award.

Apart from this, Vita, Devlali, Sillod cities have also received awards. Chief Minister Shinde's Thane district's Mira-Bhayander (19), Thane (24), Kalyan-Dombivli (67) did not perform very well. Nagpur Municipal Corporation of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has the 86th rank. Panvel (21), Nashik (31), Ahmednagar (39), Chandrapur (48), Satara (49), Dhule (57), Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (61), Solapur (63), Wardha (66), Barshi (88), Latur (93) cities have also made it to the top 100 in their respective groups.
