Major fire breaks out in Andheri East

A major fire broke out at Rolta company in Andheri East. The incident was reported on 22nd street, Andheri MIDC, Marol at 12:34 pm. The fire which was earlier declared as Level-III is said to be confined to the server room on the 2nd floor of the G+3 commercial structure. Update: The fire is now said to be a Level 4

It is said that the people reported dense smoke in the building. The rescue team has been rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Eight fire engines, six jumbo tanks and other teams were at the spot and the number of fire engines has increased keeping the intensity in mind.

Mumbaikars took to Twitter to share the photos with the information. One of them wrote, "Fire broke out in ROLTA Tower Andheri East".

On Wednesday night, another fire was reported in Bandra East, which left six injured. Patients were taken to Sion and Bhabha hospital for treatment. 

Update  (15: 42)  The intensity of the fire increases to Level-IV. A total of 11 fire engines, 9 jumbo tanks and rescue teams have been sent to douse the fire.

Update: (18:45): 12 fire engines and QRV, Three Special Appliances, about 100 fire officer are engaged in this operation 

The glass facade, aluminium cladding, covered roof , encroachment in fire passages, non-ventilation etc were major issues faced during fire fighting. The fire is confined to a small area now but the fire fighting operation is still on.

MIDC Fire Official will be asked to produce all the permissions including rooftop covering and any inspection or notice issued to the building. There will be a thorough investigation of the cause of the fire. Since the building's fire system was not in working condition immediately electrical and water supply was not cut off.

Update: 19:10: The fire has again got out of control.

The traffic has been diverted towards Akruti Centre in Andheri East
