Contractors will be prosecuted for unclean nullahs: Vishwanath Mahadeshwar

Mayor of Mumbai, Vishwanath Mahadeshwar made a surprise visit throughout the city last week and had openly stated that BMC must be responsible if flooding happens in Mumbai.

With monsoon round the corner, unclean nullahs can cause a huge problem for citizens. Meanwhile, Mumbai mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, who had expressed his fear that Mumbai will face water clogging due to ongoing Metro projects, has assured Mumbaikars that nullah cleaning work will be completed within the stipulated time. He further added that if the contractor fails to complete his work, he will be prosecuted.  

The civic body officials had accompanied mayor for an inspection wherein they found out that the cleaning of several nullahs including the nullahs of MTNL Bridge, Mithi river at BKC, Laxmibagh nullah of Ghatkopar, Usha Nagar nullah of Bhandup, Bombay Oxygen nullah, Boundary nullah, Mankhurd nullah, Deonar nullah are yet to finish.

Mayor Mahadeshwar has ordered that the BMC officials who have been actively desilting the nullahs should clean all nullahs and dump the debris at the designated places.
